When the cold wave strikes, how to prevent freezing of cutting fluid?
1. Storage
Water-based cutting fluid oil drums should be stored indoors or in an environment above minus 5 degrees Celsius. If solidified, it should be used after thawing.
2. Configuration
When configuring the diluent, use warm water (10°C-50°C) for the solution, pour the concentrate into the warm water, and stir and mix well; avoid using supercooled water to configure the cutting fluid. Once configured, check the concentration with a refractometer.
3. Workshop insulation measures
When the temperature is not too low, the cutting fluid/cleaning agent circulation can be turned on during the downtime to prevent the working fluid from freezing; do insulation work in the working area of the machine tool, and cover the surface of the centralized fluid supply pipeline with thermal insulation cotton; the working fluid that has been frozen It can be melted with an appropriate amount of warm water.
4. Add antifreeze
If the temperature is very low, it is recommended to add water-based metalworking fluid antifreeze to the cutting fluid/cleaning agent working fluid to reduce the freezing point of the working fluid and prevent freezing.
5. Matters needing attention
1) When the cutting fluid/cleaning agent is configured in a low temperature environment, the cutting fluid dissolving speed is slow, and it should be fully stirred to avoid the phenomenon of turbidity and stratification due to insufficient emulsification of the cutting fluid.
2) It is not recommended to use an electric heating rod to heat and freeze the working fluid, because the surface temperature of the electric heating rod is extremely high and the instantaneous temperature that is too high when in contact with the cutting fluid may cause chemical changes and affect the performance of the cutting fluid.
3) The price of antifreeze is high, in order to reduce your cost, it is not recommended to add too much.
