Following is a discussion of the following issues: performance and scope of application of anti-emulsifiers and emulsifiers.
Emulsifier is a kind of substance which can improve the surface tension of various constituent phases in the emulsion and make it form a uniform and stable dispersion system or emulsion. Emulsifier is a surfactant with hydrophilic and lipophilic groups in the molecule. It gathers at the oil/water interface, which can reduce the interfacial tension and reduce the energy needed to form the emulsion, thereby increasing the energy of the emulsion.
Lubricating oil will lose its fluidity emulsifier can double the viscosity of oil) and lubricity after emulsification or its poor anti-emulsifying property. It will also cause metal corrosion and wear. Industrial Gear Oil , steam turbine oil and hydraulic oil (such as oil containing zinc salt) are vulnerable to water pollution, so these oils have higher requirements for anti-emulsification performance.
Characteristics of emulsifiers and emulsifiers:
The characteristic of emulsifier is to reduce the interfacial tension between oil and water. The hydrophilic and hydrophilic groups of surfactant molecules are adsorbed on the oil and water phases respectively, and arranged into interfacial films to prevent the combination of emulsified particles and promote the stability of the emulsion.
Anti-emulsifier can increase the interfacial tension between oil and water, make the stdrble emulsifier become thermodynamically unstable and destroy the emulsifier. Most of the anti-emulsifiers are oil-in-water (O/W) surfactants, which adsorb on the oil-water interface, change the tension of the interface, or destroy the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance of the emulsifier by adsorbing on the emulsifier, so that the emulsifier changes from W/O type to O/W type, and oil-water is separated during the phase inversion process.
