Industrial gear oil and vehicle gear oil sound like only two words, but there is a huge difference in actual use. Both of these two gear oils are very different in terms of their nature and the occasions they are used. They are different, so the two should never be mixed during use, otherwise it will damage the parts of the machine. In order to make everyone better distinguish between industrial gear oils, this article will briefly introduce the difference between the two oils.
1. Different occasions. Industrial gear oils are used for the lubrication of fixed industrial equipment gearboxes, and vehicle gear oils are used for the lubrication of mobile on-board gearboxes. In other words, the environmental temperature of the oil used in the latter varies greatly, and it is a mobile device, and the requirements for high and low temperatures are relatively high. Therefore, vehicle gear oil needs to be divided into multi-grade and single-grade.
2. Medium-load and heavy-duty vehicle gears are generally hyperbolic gears, which have higher load-bearing requirements than industrial gears that are often cylindrical or conical. Therefore, the carrying capacity of medium-duty vehicle gear oil is equivalent to that of heavy-duty gear oil. Therefore, medium-duty vehicle gear oil with a considerable viscosity grade can replace heavy-duty industrial gear oil.
3. The viscosity grade of vehicle gear oil is classified according to the SAE regulations of the American Society of Automotive Engineers, and the kinematic viscosity at 100°C is measured. The industrial gear oil is classified in accordance with the requirements of the International Organization for Standardization ISO, and the kinematic viscosity at 40°C is measured. Therefore, the substitution must be converted.
4. In terms of classification, ISO only specifies the classification symbol C for industrial gear oils, and does not specifically specify the grouping symbol for vehicle gear oils.
1. Appropriate viscosity and good viscosity-temperature property. Viscosity is the most basic property of gear oil. The formation of hydrodynamic film and elastic fluid lubricating film is closely related to the viscosity of gear oil. If the viscosity of oil is large, the thickness of the oil film formed will increase the resistance to load. If the viscosity is good, the degree of viscosity change with temperature is small. The change in oil film thickness is also small.
2. Sufficient extreme pressure and abrasion resistance. Oils with good extreme pressure and anti-wear properties will form boundary adsorption films or chemical reaction films under high-speed, low-speed heavy loads or impact loads in the gear mechanism. It can prevent the tooth surface from abrasion, abrasion and gluing.
3. Good oxidation stability and thermal stability. When industrial gear oil works, it is in contact with air, metal, and impurities. When the temperature is high, it is easy to be oxidized and deteriorated, which shortens the service life of the oil.
