Why does the high-temperature chain oil of the textile heat setting machine always coking?

September 25, 2023

Why does the high-temperature chain oil of the textile heat setting machine always coking? With the upgrading of textile fabrics, the level of post-processing technology is required to be further improved, and the working conditions are more demanding. Therefore, in the oil lubricated chain system, higher requirements are put forward for high-temperature chain oil. Due to the fact that fabrics produced by textile factories undergo various processes such as pre-treatment, dyeing, printing, and finishing. In these production and processing processes, a large amount of dyes, additives, acid-base substances, and hot water are required. Causing the chain to operate in a working environment with a lot of water, steam, and acidic and alkaline media.

When drying, printing, and shaping fabrics, the temperature is relatively high, reaching a maximum of 230 ℃ or above, and the chain speed can reach a maximum of 120m/min. The chain used in post-processing equipment, especially in heat setting machines, is very long, with a large number of sections in the drying room. The chain works in the drying room for a long time, and after coming out of the drying room, it is at room temperature, resulting in a large temperature drop. Due to the "polygonal effect" of the transmission, its instantaneous chain speed is variable, resulting in continuous vibration, high impact load, and increased fatigue wear (pitting). Long term continuous operation of the equipment requires stable and reliable operation.

The operating conditions of high-temperature chain oil are harsh, and in practical use, there are requirements for the performance of high-temperature chain oil

high-temperature chain oils

Coking performance: The amount of coking is the most important indicator for evaluating the quality of chain oil. After the chain oil is coking, it adheres to the chain and guide rail, causing blockages, dragging, and other phenomena during the operation of the chain. Friction, impact loads, increased motor current, increased chain wear, fatigue, and energy waste can even occur. In severe cases, it can cause chain tooth jumping, chain dragging, fracture, or frequency converter and motor burning.

Coking is a product of high-temperature oxidation of chain oil, and the presence of water, steam, acid-base substances, and flocs can exacerbate the oxidation of chain oil and increase the amount of coking. Coking is inevitable. A good chain oil has a stable chemical structure, produces very little oily coke, and can be taken away, extending the maintenance and cleaning cycle of the chain.

To measure the quality of high-temperature chain oil, it is necessary to meet the following characteristics:

Volatility:
Volatility is another important indicator for measuring the quality of chain oil. Excessive volatilization of chain oil leads to increased fuel consumption and environmental pollution. It is worth noting that if the volatilization amount is too large and the exhaust fan is not removed in a timely manner, oil mist will not form on the oven, and after the oil mist freezes, it will drip and contaminate the fabric. Good chain oil requires as little volatility as possible. The main reason for causing chain oil consumption is the high volatility of oil, which reduces the economic benefits of chain oil.

Permeability:
There is a slight gap between the inner and outer chain plates of the chain, as well as between the rollers and the inner chain plate. Chain oil seeps into the friction surface between the sleeve and the pin shaft, and between the rollers and the shaft sleeve through the gap. Chain oil with poor permeability makes it difficult for oil to enter the friction point, exacerbating chain wear and even causing biting, shortening the service life of the chain.

Lubricity:
Lubrication performance refers to the oil film retention ability of chain oil at high temperatures. Poor lubrication increases chain friction, increases energy consumption, and intensifies wear.

Low temperature:

Low temperature performance In winter, if the viscosity of the chain oil is too high or solidifies when the equipment is stopped for a long time and restarted, it can cause difficulty in starting the equipment, extend the preheating time, and even burn out the frequency converter or motor. Therefore, it is required that chain oil still has good fluidity at low temperatures.

Easy to clean:
Easy to clean, such as oil that is too thin at high temperatures. When the chain speed is high, the oil on the chain and track will fly onto the fabric. Therefore, it is required that the viscosity of chain oil should not be too small at high temperatures. Once the fabric is contaminated, it is required to be easy to clean.

A heat setting machine would have so many requirements for high-temperature chain oil!
